I was to attend my high school junior-senior prom in a five-star hotel. So I am going to wear a formal gown! My friends and I started to window shop for our respective wear in a department store that specializes in formal wear. I found this cream gown-a backless with raffles from neckline down to low cut back and beaded in yellow and gold florets along the sides. Was it expensive? Oh, yes it was! Mom’s budget for me was not enough. This was my senior year and I really wanted to make this event a memorable one. I want to look fabulous in the pictures for posterity, and to me, that gown was to-die-for. My aunt who is adept in sewing caught my dilemma and offered to do the gown for me. So I bought instead real nice fabrics and beads. No, I was not the Queen of the Night but I surely did look gorgeous at the prom. My escort then is now my husband. And oh, the fabulous gown! The Project Runway sewing machine did it for me. Thanks, Auntie!

Using polyester thread in a quilting or sewing project may be a great choice. Polyester offers many advantages that other thread types such as rayon or cotton may not have. It can also make an art project more colorful or productive. There are many advantages to polyester thread. Polyester is much less likely to break than other thread types. It tends to stretch very far before breaking and then it recovers quickly. This will keep sewing projects, such as clothes, from stretching out and ruining when washed, worn, or handled. Since polyester does not break as easily, it can be used in faster machines than weaker threads.
Polyester thread also has the great ability to hold onto color better than other types of threads. This colorfastness is useful in making embroidery projects and quilting projects that require colorful, high sheen stitching patterns. When wet, polyester will not only hold onto its color, but it will absorb less water than other thread types. Absorbing less water allows for the thread and stitching to hold fast during washing.
There are three main types of polyester quilting thread. Spun polyester has many pieces of polyester spun together to create the desired length of thread. Spun polyester allows for a thread that looks like cotton, but it has superior strength as compared to cotton. Filament polyester is one or two long pieces of polyester put together to create the thread. These are normally smooth and lint free and they allow for cleaner machines. The third thread type is trilobal polyester. This thread has the bright color of rayon or silk along with the strength that is characteristic of polyester.
Many quilters are afraid to use polyester because they believe that the strong thread will tear the fabric. Since most quilting now is done partially by machine, quilters can use a mixture of polyester and cotton thread to make their quilts. Much tearing is done at the seams of the quilt where the stress occurs. Therefore, a quilter can use cotton threads for the hand stitching around the seams and polyester for the machined patterns in the center. Polyester is easier to use on machines and it has a great color to make beautiful quilting patterns.
Polyester has often been given a bad reputation because some believe that it is dull and too strong for quilting fabric. However, with new technology and differently spun polyester, this thread is now a vibrant and strong thread to use for any quilting or sewing project. Its colorfastness, shine, strength, and durability towards chemicals and water are what makes it a popular choice.

Teaching someone to crochet is easy when using Crochet Terms And Definitions from the start. Familiarization with the different crochet terms and definitions accelerates learning how to crochet. There are 2 crochet standards that are being used around the world, the North American Standard and the British Standard and it is better to master one standard to avoid getting confused in the execution of designs and projects. When buying crochet books and magazines, make sure that it uses the standard one is familiar with. Even in referring to crochet websites, check first the standard it uses before working on designs and projects. These crochet terms and definitions usually include types of stitches, starting and ending directions, color abbreviations and hook gauges. Abbreviations are used for ease and brevity in making design patterns. It takes a while to get used to the abbreviations but regular use of these terms will result to mastery and understanding of various patterns that are being published on print or online.

How are you?
You can ask that to anyone, but can you stand in front of the mirror and ask that to you own self? Maybe you can say yes and probably, you can do it. But believe me, in one way or another, you can not answer that seemingly simple and ordinary question. You can not dare to fake that smile you usually paint all over your face when someone asked you that same question and you have no other choice than lying to them, lying to yourself obviously. It is not easy to lie at yourself in front of the mirror, staring at those eyes so afraid of admitting pain, hurt and failure. We can deny but we knew ourselves how untrue we are. Life can be painful sometimes and the more painful it is to admit our mistakes to our own selves. Come to think of it, were are just like LLadro Figurines,so lovely to hold and so beautiful for the eyes but no matter how you twist and turn the figurines, they can not still move.
No matter how painful these things are, we still have to believe in the power of self-confidence. It does not matter whether you have succeeded or not, whether you are okay or not. What matters most is how you manage to be okay after all, how you stand up for every fall and how you fix yourself amidst all. Life seems so cruel but we have to face it. Life may look so unfair but be sensitive, look around and you can tell that life is fair. We have our own version of problems, different style, different faces and situations. You are still lucky to be alive. You are still blessed to have a life. You are still fortunate enough to hold hummels figurines and you are not as cold as a figurine.

To preserve the same quality of M. I. hummels figurines throughout the years, the same craftsmanship is being done by Manufaktur Rödental as that of Goebel Porcelain Company.
The first step in the production process is for the master sculptor to study a drawing or painting of Sister Hummel. Since the picture has no volume, it will take the imagination of the craftsman to create a clay figurine. Sculpting it may take weeks and when it is done, it is presented for approval to the Artistic Board of the Siessen Convent and the Hummel Family.
Once it is approved, the mold making process begins. It is embedded in clay then Plaster of Paris is poured over it to make the master mold. Then there is casting and assembling where the figurines are now assembled and is dried for about 7 days.
After that, it is baked in the oven for at least three times, gradually so as not to damage the figurine with intense heat. The gloss is painted during the baking process.
It is then the work of the Master Painter to paint the sample that must be approved again by the Convent of Siessen and the Hummel Family. After that it will undergo hand painting by highly-trained artists. Therefore, each M. I. Hummel Figurine is unique because no two hand painted figurine is the same.
